Chris shares a special bond with one particular member of his family. His dad is not only his parent, but his coach, too. Spending time on the ice has brought these hockey-obsessed family members together. They both live, breathe and sleep with Ranger Blue on the mind. (That’s the New York Rangers, for those unfamiliar with the concept of “Ranger Blue”).  Chris, who has spent his entire life playing hockey, beginning at the “learn to skate level” and skating all the way to an advanced level. It’s been the most important part of his life – he’s spent thousands of hours traveling around the country to play the sport.

When Chris was diagnosed with cancer, it looked like he might never play hockey again. With cancer weakening his hip bone, doctors feared that it would need to be replaced – rendering him unable to participate in his favorite sport. Although he was inconsolable when he heard the news, Chris did not stop loving hockey. He turned to watching games and learning all about the players, especially those on his favorite team – the New York Rangers.

Against all odds, Chris’s diagnosis was changed: he would be able to keep his hip! Hockey was the first thing that came to his mind. Would he be able to play again? Slowly, he rebuilt his skill, practicing and playing with his dad. When Make-A-Wish® told him the time had come for him to make his wish, he knew exactly what it was. He wanted to play hockey with the New York Rangers.

Dressed in a uniform made specifically his size, Chris hit the ice with the New York Rangers. It was one of the best days he’d had in a very long time, and the perfect start to the next chapter of his life.

Christopher’s wish to meet the NY Rangers was made possible with the generous help of the Garden of Dreams Foundation and the New York Rangers.
